1. What is it?
King fish (Carangoides spp.) are fast swimming, schooling, predatory fish. Any species within this genus is rated as a no-sale species within South Africa.
2. How was it caught or farmed?
Only recreational fishers with special permit may catch kingfish following a daily bag limit (5 pp/pd). Recreational fishers are also not allowed to sell their catches.
3. Where is it from?
King fish are distributed throughout the world´s tropical and warm temperate waters and are generally found in inshore coastal waters, including the surf zone, estuaries, rocky and coral reefs. Due to its no-sale status, management consists of monitoring and permit enforcement on a local scale.
