Seventy-four seabream (Polysteganus undulosus) are migrating, spawning fish known to form aggregations on rocky reefs. They were once the most common linefish consumed in KwaZulu-Natal. However, due to overfishing the stock collapsed. They are are listed as Critically Endangered on the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species. Seventy-four seabream are fully protected in South African waters and fishing of any kind is strictly prohibited.
